Hope Kenya is inspired by Mathew 25:35. It is truly the story about my life in America. We have been given so so much, and much more is expected of us.
As for me, giving back is not an option! And through Hope Kenya, you can join me in significantly impacting community education.
I grew up in the slums of Kenya surrounded by poverty. I came into poverty immediately on my arrival in the U.S due to a misunderstanding with my college paperwork. From my experience, poverty in the western hemisphere is not really that bad! I have experienced and seen first hand just how difficult life could be for poor people living in the slums of Kenya and in down town Los Angeles.
My story is simple but full of Grace! It started over 20 years ago, when I found myself in a PANAM airline headed from Kenya to Los Angeles for college.
Unbeknownst to me, the doors of the University had already been closed even before I arrived. God had however, opened a window of opportunity. An opportunity that would help me understand what it means to develop partnerships and long lasting relationships with the homeless people in skid row, downtown L.A, and with the farmers and hard working folks of the Midwest.
While in the U.S., I have had the humble opportunity of living among drug dealers, prostitutes, the homeless in L.A, and the gangs of 'Watts' south central L.A Through and through, God's mercy and grace has seen me through!
Additionally, I have had the rare opportunity of associating with some of the leading corporate 'giants' in America. Again, God's grace kept me true to 'the course'!
My experience has taught me that there is more to life than self!
